Louis O. Schwartz, President of the American Sportscasters Association, Named to New York Downtown Hospital’s Community Advisory Board


April 8, 2012 -- Louis O. Schwartz, President of the American Sportscasters Association (ASA), has been invited to serve as a member of the New York Downtown Hospital Community Advisory Board by Mr. Herbert Rosenfield, Hospital Life Trustee of the Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Advisory Board.

Mr. Anthony S. Ercolano, Manager of Special Projects for the hospital stated, “On behalf of Mr. Herbert Rosenfield, I am pleased to invite you to membership on the Hospital’s Community Advisory Board. Mr. Rosenfield knows that your understanding of, and appreciation for, the Lower Manhattan community will be an asset to our Hospital.”

Aside from his duties as President of the ASA, Mr. Schwartz also serves as Editor of the association’s Insiders Sportsletter, an Associate of Columbia University (Pollution & Water Resources Seminar), an NGO Member of the United Nations, and the author of numerous published articles including “Women in Sportscasting: A Brief History,” “The History of Radio & TV Sportscasting,” and “Let’s Build a Firmer Partnership: Sports & Education.”

A few of Mr. Schwartz’s former positions are “Secretary of the Department” of the New York City Department of Public Works, President & CEO of the Finger Lakes Broadcasting Corp., an Advisor to the Chairman of the Board of the Titan Corp. in San Diego, Calif. and President of the Harvard Construction Corp.

Members of the Hospital Advisory Board include representatives from the New York City Comptroller’s Office, Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver’s office, Pace University, UFTA, Cushman & Wakefield, Community Boards 1 & 2, the Alliance for Downtown New York, Grand Street Settlement, Chinese American Planning Council and the Visiting Nurses Center of NY.
