Joe Tait, Cleveland Cavaliers Radio Voice, Released from Hospital

by M.L. Schultze, WKSU Radio

ASA member and Cleveland Cavaliers radio announcer Joe Tait was released from The Cleveland Clinic on Nov. 16.

Doctors at the clinic performed an “umbrella” filter procedure two weeks ago on the basketball Hall of Fame broadcaster to prevent blood clots from reaching his lungs. He’ll undergo rehabilitation for the next few weeks, then be re-evaluated for a double bypass and aortic valve replacement. That will likely be done in early January.

Tait, who is 73, was sidelined during the preseason with a pneumonia and had planned to retire at the end of the 2010-11 season.
