Joe Buck to Call First
U.S. Open on Fox

by Patrick Turturro

June 17, 2015 - Joe Buck, ASA Member and veteran FOX announcer, will be adding the U.S. Open to his already impressive resume. Buck who has called five Super Bowls and 16 World Series as the network’s No. 1 play-by-play voice, will call golf’s second major of the year from Chambers Bay on June 18-21. The network will air of 40 hours of live coverage split between Fox and FS1.

Buck, an avid golfer, has been diligently preparing for his new assignment. He has even received some advice from fellow golf announcers Jim Nantz, Mike Tirico and Dan Hicks, who had called the Open on NBC for the last 20 years before Fox acquired the rights in a 12-year deal with the USGA. Tirico, also an ASA member, has been very supportive of Buck to the point of offering him all his research from when he covered the event two years ago.

Joining Buck in the tower at the 18th hole will be former No. 1 ranked golfer Greg Norman, with Tom Weiskpopf, Brad Faxon, Corey Pavin and Steve Flesch reporting from the course.
