Lesley Visser, Ian Eagle, Todd Ant and Bert Sugar honored at Bill Gallo Dinner
LESLEY VISSER, ASA Advisory Board member and veteran sports reporter for CBS Sports, was honored with the 2006 BILL GALLO Sports Award at the BILL GALLO Sports Awards Dinner held at the New York Marriott Marquis on October 25, 2006. Unable to attend the event because of an assignment, ASA President LOU SCHWARTZ, Dinner Vice Chairman who was instrumental in setting up this sportscaster awards dinner, accepted the award on her behalf.
Also honored with Sports Awards were ASA members TODD ANT of the ABC Radio Network; IAN EAGLE, the voice of the New Jersey Nets and NFL football on CBS; and BERT SUGAR, noted author and sports historian. JEROME BELSON, President of the Associated Builders and Owners of Greater New York was given the 2006 Humanitarian award for his many years of public service and philanthropic endeavors.
SCOTT CLARK, ASA Advisory Board member and WABC-TV sports anchor, served was the Master of Ceremonies and ESPN and Westwood One Radio announcer DAVE SIMS was the other co-host.
Gallo, an award-winning sports cartoonist for the New York Daily News for over 50 years, started the event to benefit the “LEARNING FOR LIFE” program which helps over 30,000 youths with disabilities through programs with the BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA.
