Chick Hearn, ASA Hall of Famer
and legendary Los Angeles Lakers announcer who passed away on August 5,
was honored by the Lakers during a pre-game ceremony at the Staples Center
on November 24. Those on hand included Hearn's former partner and ASA
member Stu Lantz and former Lakers great Jerry West, who
presented Hearn's wife, Marge, with a plaque on behalf of the Lakers.
The unveiling of a Chick Hearn jersey emblazoned with a microphone was
the highlight of the ceremony. It will hang from the rafters at the Staples
Center with the jerseys of Lakers greats such as Magic Johnson
and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
